Leadership Team - Biography

Wesley W. Severin is executive vice president, Retirement Division, for Symetra Financial Corporation and its insurance subsidiaries. He has profit-and-loss responsibility for Symetra’s annuity products, including strategy development, product design and innovation, product marketing, market research, sales, distribution, service and operations.

Mr. Severin joined Symetra in March 2011 as western divisional sales manager for retirement products and was promoted to vice president of national sales the following year. In December 2017, he was named senior vice president, Retirement Distribution, with responsibility for the division’s sales, sales operations, relationship management, product marketing and business technology teams.

Prior to Symetra, Mr. Severin was national sales director of financial institution markets at Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance Company in Denver. He previously was a financial advisor with Simmers Capital Management.

Mr. Severin received a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Colorado State University. He serves on the board of directors of the Insured Retirement Institute.
